Message from the President
It is my pleasure to welcome you to the home site of the South African Society of Anaesthesiologists (SASA). As the new President of SASA it is both my pleasure and duty to offer my thanks and congratulations to the organising committee of the recently held 14th World Congress of Anaesthesia in Cape Town. I believe that a new benchmark for World Congresses has been set by this meeting. I wish to single out the efforts of Dave Morrell, Mike James, and Andre Coetzee in organising this event.

Their contributions were invaluable but the success of the endeavour would not have been possible without the combined efforts of the local organising committee and the individual input of the members of the South African anaesthetic fraternity.

It is this standard that SASA strives to maintain by our aim of furthering the discipline of anaesthesia at both an academic and a clinical level. We have shown the world of what we are capable and I can safely state that we are all "proudly South African".
